Urban Jungle: Tocco Tenero FW 2011

3 year old local leather bags label Tocco Tenero brings together quality and affordability by offering a fashionable selection of arm candies in a delightful spectrum of colours that will not burn a hole in your pocket. You will be hard-pressed to find stylish, 100% leather bags that are priced below S$200 anywhere else. The trick, according to brand director Joseph Lor, is to "re-engineer traditional methods of manufacturing and material selection". We do not know exactly how that is done, but from what we see in-store, the formula certainly works!

The brand's FW 2011 collection is inspired by life in the urban jungle, so expect a range designs for every occasion that will help you survive the city. Understanding the importance of versatility and functionality, Tocco Tenero's bags are often made to allow the user to tote the bag in a variety of ways (i.e. shoulder sling, hand-carry, clutch or cross-body). Such details, in addition to the attractive price points, render these pieces great value for money. We also like the chic gold hardware and the pretty bag charms that comes with many of the bags.

Tocco Tenero bags are priced from S$79 to S$199 and are available at #01-33 Wisma Atria and #P1-26 Parco @ Millenia.

Naked Room

Who says Singapore has a lack of talented yound designers. Naked Room is helmed by Jada Seet and Lin Tan.
About the Designers:
Naked Room is label under Lilysky Studios, set up by Jada Seet and Lin Tan in 2010. Both creative directors met in Temasek Polytechnic while majoring in Apparel Design and Merchandising.

Jada next designed for major European retailers in Belgium, Switzerland and, most recently, international sports brand Adidas. In Singapore, she pioneered the personalised styling service at TOPSHOP. She has been invited to be a judge for Design Singapore 2010.

Lin, meanwhile, focused on executive coaching, training and running the operations of one of the largest Coaching organisations in Asia. In 2005, she was recognised as one of the world's youngest Professional Certified Coach (ICF, USA). She intends to transfer her experience in psychology, business, marketing and event organising into running an apparel business that forges ties between fashion and humanitarian work.

Their latest collection exudes classiness and sexiness, using black as the theme and in different fabric and textures like lace and chiffon. The collection can be found at Parco Next at Millenia. Check out their newly launched magazine below.

Eco Fashion

FASHIONSPACE.COM is proud to have a few eco-conscious designers and retailers onboard. With the depletion and pollution of Earth's resources, we are glad to see many fashion designers using earth friendly textiles and recycling techniques to produce beautiful items that have low carbon footprint.

We love the clever draping of Jujube's designs. She uses mainly eco-certified textiles that are made of biodegradable organic fibres. She transforms them into wearable, innovative and fashionable garments as seen in her magazine here http://www.fashionspace.com/jujube

Harveys is a brand we absolutely adore. Their bags are made of recycled seat belts, woven into beautiful bags of different colours, shapes and sizes. Not to mention, they are extremely durable too. See the full range at http://www.fashionspace.com/harveys

How about wearing eco jewellery? Check out Batucada's range of jewellery made of eco-friendly certified components in their Eco Rubber. Batucada respects the natural environment by maintaining a non-polluting production process and using recycled materials whereever possible. See the full range here http://www.fashionspace.com/batucada

We found an interesting Eco look by one of our users Susie.

Feeling Depressed?

We met 2 extremely creative guys, Andrew and Kenny, from Depression recently to talk about FASHIONSPACE.COM. In the process, I bought a skirt and a t-shirt from them, talk about job hazard...it's really dangerous for my pocket. Depressed? NOT!

So why the create a brand with a name like Depression? Well ask Andrew and Kenny. The 2 sweet guys were from the advertising industry. Being jaded and DEPRESSED...(Yes...that's where the inspiration came) with their jobs, they took a leap of faith and started Depression. From what I see, it has been well worth it as the brand is very well received. In fact, I happen to see a certain celebrity wearing one of their shirts on TV just today.

If you noticed, their designs are very much black and white with a surrealistic and unexpected twist. Their designs often brings out the dark, slightly modern gothic and a bit evil feel but never losing the fun and happy side. I know it's a bit of an oxymoron but that's what I love about this brand. Check out some of their designs and their magazine below.
