It's exactly one week before Singapore's Audi Fashion Festival kicks off for the third year in a row. Ooo la la... This year's line up promises yet another round of glitz and glamour under the Tents @ Orchard with Missoni, Antonio Berardi and Giles Deacon at the helm of the house of Ungaro slated to show.
Alongside the fanfare for the international names as they come into town, we're rooting for the next crop of Asian sartorial talent at the Star Creation competition happening on the 16th. Think Project Runway-meets-(Asian) Idol and you've summed up this exciting venture organized by the Textile & Fashion Federation Singapore and Asia Fashion Exchange. This year's 12 finalists were asked for their take on the intriguing theme:"Internationally Asian" and were chosen from 144 hopeful entries around the region.
What's at stake this May 16th? The top three contestants will walk away with S$10,000, a year's work attachment with major retailer F.J Benjamin and the chance to launch a capsule collection at next year's Star Creation. The most promising winner will also receive the Audi Young Designer Award (AYDA) alongside an additional S$10,000 cash prize.
Over the next few days, we'll put a spotlight on the contestants and what makes them tick as we get to know better the next generation of style tastemakers. As Monsieur Tim Gunn would remark, they'll have to "Make it work" come the finals of Star Creation Singapore.
