Hansel AW11 X WoonHung X Ann Gee X Adrian Wee

hansel's AW 2011 collection, Flyaway Donkey, was launched yesterday and fans of this quirky local brand will be delighted with the array of playful "Arabian Nights" references, cute motifs and sweet colours. Sticking close to what she does best (i.e. whimsical prettiness), Jo Soh drew inspiration from the adventures of Aladdin and Ali Baba and sent out outfits worthy of the characters from "One Thousand and One Nights". On top of the designer's staple of knitwear and jersey dresses, you can also expect harem pants, billowing skirts and turban-inspired detailing.

No stranger to collaborative collections, hansel has teamed up with Singaporean jewellery label WoonHung to create an exclusive range of necklaces this season. Featuring the donkey and lamp motifs, each one is crafted from intricate inlaid wood of contrasting textures and colours, pieced together by gold, sparkling rhinestone or matte chains.

Following in hansel's tradition of cross-disciplinary collaborations, the collection is accompanied by a 2-D animation video by young Singaporean illustrator Ann Gee, with music orchestrated by Adrian Wee (of POPTART fame). Follow the cheeky hero donkey as it dances to the sharp melodies of the flute while lovely gemstones rain down on him!
